What this site currently stores
The current rebuilt site does not require an account and does not maintain a Swindon.org.uk user profile for ordinary browsing.
Some small preferences may be stored in your own browser. For example, the Personal News subject checkboxes use browser localStorage so the same boxes can remain ticked on that device. Those preferences are not sent to Swindon.org.uk merely because they are stored.
Contact
The Contact page uses your own email program. Swindon.org.uk does not store the form fields in a website database before the message is sent.
If you choose to send an email, the email and anything you include in it are then received and handled as normal correspondence.
Aletheia and external AI services
Some pages can prepare an Aletheia handoff for an AI service such as Gemini, Copilot, ChatGPT, DeepSeek or Claude. The handoff is copied to your clipboard and the selected external service opens in a separate window.
Swindon.org.uk does not automatically submit that text to the external AI. You decide whether to paste and send it. Once you use an external AI service, that provider's own privacy terms apply.
External websites
Swindon.org.uk links to other organisations and services, including local news sites, Google Maps, councils, government services and other useful sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies and may receive ordinary web-request information when you visit them.
Cookies, analytics and local storage
The code in this current static rebuild does not deliberately set first-party tracking cookies and does not include a first-party analytics system.
Browser local storage may be used for simple on-device preferences such as Personal News topics. If analytics, advertising, embedded services or other tracking technology is added later, this page should be updated before or when it is enabled.
Hosting and technical logs
Like most hosted websites, the hosting infrastructure may create technical server logs for security, reliability and operation. Those logs are controlled at hosting level rather than by the Personal News or Aletheia features described above.
Affiliate links
Some resource pages may eventually contain clearly disclosed affiliate links. Clicking an affiliate or retailer link takes you to an external service, whose privacy and tracking rules then apply. Affiliate relationships must not determine factual conclusions or source ranking on Swindon.org.uk.
